Age 6 years, Athenkosi (Atty) has been at the Wavecrest nursery school in the coloured community in Hout Bay. At her interview for kronendal, Atty wowed the teacher with her magnificient drawing of herself, adding tremendous details such as eyelashes, fingernails and shoes. A quietly confident girl, we are sure Atty will integrate well in her first term starting January 2009.

Atty and her brother live with both their parents in Imazamo yethu, the informal Settlement in Hout Bay. Their mother, Goodness is a domestic worker, and Sydwell the father, is a machine operator.
