Referred by Kairos day care centre, Martino lives with is mother Betty in the coloured community, in Hout Bay Harbour.

As a single mother Betty currently works two jobs to be asble to offer her son a better life than she had. Raised in an orphange in the suburbs of cape town where she received little education and care, Betty recognises the importance of being a parent and the benefit of a good education.

On interviewing Betty, we were struck by the dedication and determination of Betty to provide for her son. We recognised that she would support and value the opportunity of a better education for martino, and therefoee make an ideal Bright Start parent.

Martino enjoys soccer, and is looking forward to joining Grade 1 at Kronendal Pre-Primary in January 2009.
