Education Sponsor

For most parents in Hout Bay the local ‘non-fee paying’ government schools are the only affordable option. However, these schools are seriously overcrowded and under resourced, resulting in a minimal level of supervision and education.

By becoming an education sponsor, you offer a child a brighter future and assist in strengthening the future of South Africa.

An education sponsor contributes the amount for an individual child’s school fees at a prominent school in the Hout Bay area. The child then becomes part of our Education Support Programme where he or she is given the support required to ensure that they reach their maximum potential.

Sponsors may be individuals, groups or corporates.

An individual may sponsor the monthly school fees of a child and pay annually, bi-annually, quarterly or monthly in advance.

A group of donors may wish to sponsor one child. We would prefer one amount payable from a single source, but at the same time we are happy to duplicate communication to all individuals in the group. This makes sponsorship more affordable for those who are able to make a small contribution.

Corporates may prefer to sponsor a specific item or event, or contribute towards the children’s extra peripheral needs. We are able to provide publicity for PR purposes.

A financial endowment arrangement may be more efficient where the lump sum is invested and the dividend or interest is used to sponsor the child.

Education Costs and Donor Contributions

We have tabulated the direct costs of the schools as below. Sponsors may pay their contribution in advance, annually or monthly.

An optional 20% contribution can be made towards uniforms, extra-curricular activities, school trips, aftercare, transport and other related costs.

All funds received are payable into Bright Start’s trust account. Company accounts are audited annually and are available on request.
